Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -Benjamin Franklin
I have always been outspoken when I feel Americans are losing freedom and/or rights and am getting increasingly annoyed at the lack of interest by US citizens when their own constitutional rights are concerned.. I am against the Patriot Act, (and yes I spoke out as loudly against it when it was introduced by Bush as I was when Obama signed it twice after telling us he would "keep us safe without infringing on our privacy and rights" during his campaign) I am against HR347 and the provisions in the NDAA allowing indefinite detention of American citizens without charge or trial. Without charge means they don't even have to tell you why you have been thrown in a cell. You get no phone call, no nothing. This is the most chilling law that has ever been passed and it strips Americans of their constitutional rights. It's not just THAT it got passed either. It's HOW it got passed.
Publicly, Obama threatened to veto the NDAA over the Indefinite detention of American citizens, setting Liberty minded Americans at ease.

Then we find out that the details were finished in secret during the new years holiday when people of the US will be most distracted regardless of religion. After that, we find out from Carl Levin, no less, that the Obama administration INSISTED on the verbiage that Included Americans in the indefinite detention provision.

Then the president says "his administration won't use it" (since he insisted it be in the bill this is an obvious lie, if he has no plans to use it why does he desire it?)
If it is not yet obvious to you that this is a lie. Consider that this provision was recently overturned as unconstitutional.

Consider also, that the Obama administration fought for the right to detain you indefinitely and had this ruling overturned so that they can keep this violation of our constitutional rights a law. The really scary thing about all this are the Republicans are doing NOTHING! Why isn't Mittsy calling Obama a Commie over this!?!? Unless of course, it is what the Republicans want too.

Why would they fight so hard to keep is law if the provision is never intended to be used? Is the average American really ignorant enough to believe this law will not be abused? Taking the fact that the Administration has already lied about it and that they fought to overturn the ruling of it being unconstitutional, I find it hard to believe someone would still be stupid enough to believe this law is not intended to be used.
Is the average American really ignorant enough to believe this law will not be abused? Does the average American no longer care about their freedom and constitutional rights? Will Obama supporters continue to ignore the assault on our freedom and constitutional rights? Are they unaware of the continuous assault on our rights by this administration? Will Republicans keep quiet while the Obama administration systematically strips us of all out constitutional rights?
Look at the comments on the four links to articles on the subject of indefinite detention being overturned by the administration, you will notice that oddly enough, there are none made by Obama supporters (and if there are check the date to see if the post was after this article was published) Also, there are few comments by anyone else either.
Are people ignoring what the president is doing? Are they unaware of what he is doing? Or do they just not care?
Just so you know, Romney has not given us any reason to believe he would be any better when it comes to these issues. (In the debates he said "I support the NDAA"). It should bother us all that both parties are headed in this direction when the rights of US citizens are concerned.
